This is how I added my Galaxy S5 smartphone to my hat to take POV hands-free videos. For years I took POV videos with my hat and very small cameras, like the Canon S100 or GoPro knockoffs. Recently I started recording my videos with an old Galaxy S5 smartphone that is too large to attach to the top of my hat. Initially, I was going to add it to the back straps of my hat and wear the hat backward. This will work but my face touches the screen and interfere with the recording. I did some looking on YouTube and found a video by Knoptop where he simply clipped on his smartphone tripod mount to the front of his hat. My camera mount is not able to clip on my hat but I added another and more functional hole to my hat and screwed the mount in place. The screen is a little blurry since it is so close to my eyes but I am able to see if everything is in frame easily which is the most important thing. There is a small piece of wood on my mount that I added earlier to allow me to add more accessories. The wood helped keep the camera off of my nose but you may not need it. The wood was simply a small piece cut from a yardstick I epoxied to the mount in which I drilled a hole to attach accessories. I don't use POV recordings often but they are very handy for hands-free How To and review videos. I am going to be trying this out with a review of my Rossi RS22 carbine shortly and will add a link here so you can see how it goes.
