The best Mayan ruins in Mexico? Without a doubt the Palenque ruins in Chiapas state. On our favourite day trip in all of Mexico, we explored 2 beautiful waterfalls (Agua Azul waterfall and Misol Ha waterfall), followed by a visit to the incredible Palenque pyramids. The ruins are situated in lush jungle and, unlike for example Chichen Itza, you can climb most of them!
