@mikelohmeyer41403 years ago I am planning to do this soon and going with an oval front ring on my road bike. Not looking for any massive gains just looking to make some cousin medic changes. Will the oval front ring hurt me in any way?

@marksharma-drake10163 years ago A few questions:
    1. A single chainring ideally needs a different chain line. The video didn' t seem to address this. Is it as simple as removing 2. I run force axs 2x. The system is designed to not allow first gear in the big ring, so if i remove the front derailleur then the system won' t go into lowest gear. Is this correct?. ...Expand

  • @
@unairamos743 years ago Jon's video from 3 years ago inspired me [ ] and since them there's no way back for me. 1x is the way as it simplyfies the whole system and makes your bike more fun to ride. Most people don't know that in a typical 2x setup some gears are not usable (like biggie-big and small-small), plus some other gear combinations that are duplicated throughout the gears. That leaves a typical 2x11 set with some 14-15 real different gear ratios to use, not far from a 1x13 setup anyways. .. ...Expand 2

@danthxman3 years ago Just be aware to anyone converting to 1x with a modern road bike that due to shorter chain stays that a single chain ring can be quite noisy in the extremes of the cassette. Tt bikes are usually much better.

@teresanietoaraujo27709 months ago This bike was really easy to assemble and required very few adjustments out of the box. The wheels did not require any truing/adjustments. The frame had some small scratches, but nothing major.I did replace the seat though - the seat it came with was very uncomfortable. The tires need to be re-inflated every 4-5 days, but this appears to be quite common for the narrow 700x25 tires.Overall, in my opinion, this bike looks and rides like a much more expensive bike. .. ...Expand

@bikepackingadventure79133 years ago If all your doing is removing the inner ring and changing the outer ring, wont be chainline be wrong?
a 1x chainset is designed to be able to r a double chainset is as far as im aware not designed to run smoothly throughout the rear cassette due to chainline.
also if you turn a double chainset into 1x then you will most likely needto change the bearing on your rear cassette.
i dont think its that easy to just change your outer ring on a double chainset and still have a smooth running gear system and a wide range of gears.
