Hi Recipe for Success Network, Today I'm reviewing a subscriber's resume and sharing my thoughts on what they did well and opportunities for improvement. In today's case study, the subscriber is looking to change into a project management role (or product management) ideally in the hospitality industry. This means they are both looking to change change roles and change industries simultaneously. I'm going to review their resume and provide some feedback on how I think they could tailor their resume with these needs in mind. What did they do well: 1. Really well organized, good detailed information and clearly proofread 2. They had a lot of numbers and data points throughout their resume - this is great! 3. Used lots of verbs Opportunities for improvement: 1. The resume really reads engineering focused and engineering heavy. Since this individual is looking to change into project management outside of an engineering focus/construction focus, I would suggest they consider rewriting some of their details to use more project management verbiage and focus more on their project management successes 2. There's always opportunity for more data and furthermore I think they should start with some of the key data points so they can highlight their efficacy and wins 3. Vary up the language a little bit! Lots of develop but we should mix it up! When I looked at potential job roles (technical project manager), I think this subscriber already has lots of relevant experience to these roles. It's just a matter of tailoring the resume so it reads more like a project manager resume and less like an engineer's resume.
