@ColHogan-bu2xq4 years ago Hiya Mum !
Congrats for your new baby !
Happy to see you back, as charming and efficient as before !
My favorite English expression here is "cat's pajamas", probably because of its absurd meaning... Love it.
What I also like a lot are the illustrations you find to express what you want to say (films, cartoons, Graham Norton Show, etc). Allways nailed on the head !

@onlyme72483 years ago In Arabic we say “ Abu Zaid Alhilali is your uncle “ referring to a privileged and fortunate situation that had fallen upon a person . Abu Zaid , is a legendary hero , and a Major character in an ancient Arabic folk epic . It doesn’t associate with nepotism, but rather with pride and good fortune. The character of abu Zaid is not fictional, but many fictional events and tales had been woven in to it over the years . And by the way , your baby girl is Mashalla , absolutely gorgeous . ... 1

@golden.lights.twinkle23292 years ago Some of these are commonly used in the USA as well. There was actually an old American TV program called "Hullabaloo". Have never heard "Lovely Jubbly" in my entire life. That must be a regional expression. Surprised you did not mention "Balderdash", "Mish-mash" or "Struth". My father used to use the expression "He put the wind up me" to mean "He scared me". Also "He couldn't fight his way out of a paper bag" for a weak person. A "windbag" or "a bag of wind" was someone "full of hot air" or fond of excessive talk. Haven't been back to the UK for 40 years so these might be obsolete by now. ... 1
