Chilies, on the other hand, were introduced to India around 400 years ago. In this video we are sharing information on Difference between Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder and Deggi or Degi Mirch Powder. Both of these chilli powder are essential part of Indian Cuisine. Chillies are not very old as per historic perspective. Portuguese traders had introduced chillies in India almost 400 years ago. Ever Since chilies have been integral part of Indian dishes. Now, chillies are so popular in India that we Indian are the largest producer, consumer and exporter of chillies too. You might be thinking that if chillies are just 400 years old then what we had been used to add pungency in our dishes. Black pepper and Long pepper were used to add pungent flavour in the dishes of ancient India. Today we have ample varieties of Chillies, But Mexico is still considered as ground zero for chillies. Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder - Chilli powder obtained from dried red Kashmiri Chillies that grow in Indian State of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. Basically a chilli from cold region in India. It is famous for its bright red colour and fruity flavour. Degi or Deggi Mirch - Chilli powdered marketed by several Indian Brands are combination of various ground variety of red chillies for moderate pungency and bright colour.
