In a landmark move, UAE on Saturday laid foundation stone of the first Hindu temple in the country. The ceremony was attended by thousands of Hindus. And was administered as per vedic rituals in the presence of Mahant Swami Maharaj, the spiritual leader of Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Sanstha (BAPS). The ceremony was also attended by several government officials. The temple is being built on 13.5 acres of land gifted by Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan. In 2018, UAE President Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed declared 2019 as the ‘Year of Tolerance’ to focus on legislative and policy-oriented objectives that contribute to mandating cultural and religious tolerance. UAE is home to the largest Hindu population in the Arab world. Currently, there is one Hindu temple (a small prayer hall) operating in rented commercial building in Dubai. Most of the Hindus practice religion privately at home in UAE. While there is a total ban on temples in Saudi Arabia and a few worship places for Hindus in Bahrain, Oman and Yemen. UAE’s move to promote religious tolerance, and allow religious freedom is a sign for better times to come ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Subscribe our channel: /nayadaurpk Facebook: https://facebook.com/nayadaurpk/ Follow NayaDaur on Twitter: https://twitter.com/nayadaurpk Follow NayaDaur Urdu: https://twitter.com/nayadaurpk_urdu Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/nayadaurpk/
