This is one way we propagate passion fruit vines of Passiflora edulis. We grow several varieties of passion fruit (maracuya). We love passion fruit, especially the smaller purple varieties. Cuttings can also be planted into soil with a shallow tray of water underneath. We have success using both methods. Passiflora edulis tends to develop crown rot in our area which necessitates the replanting of vines every 3 years. We have recently begun grafting Passiflora edulis onto some crown rot resistant Passiflora species. We plant o plant those on our farm this year to test how well they do. Sulcata Grove is our 2 acre, backyard food forest. We grow over 60 varieties of bananas along with many fruit trees.
