WHAT HAPPENED? I am the AFF student in this video. As we can see from the video, there are MANY things to learn from my experience that I want other new skydivers to be aware of! But the biggest takeaway is to PULL!!!! Do not wait to PULL! And no AAD was deployed in this video. I actually opened my main before reaching an altitude for the AAD to activate! First of all, I was not relaxed, I did not arch (like at all) and my legs were all over the place. Once I began to spin out of control, my first thought was to stop the spinning which I attempted to do. Once I stopped slightly, you can see my left shoulder dip and that’s when things go from Bad to WORSE. This is when panic set it and I tried too hard to get stable (BIG BIG MISTAKE) ! I kept telling myself that I had time to get stable then pull. I did not follow my pull priorities! I should have just pulled and redid the jump! Instead, my mind kept saying you can get stable. This ate all over my altitude! My instructor opens his parachute before I do, which tells you how low I was getting! I finally opened around 1700ft and yes I opened my main before the AAD went off! The dangerous thing about opening so low is that my AAD still could have went off if my main didn’t slow me down fast enough and a two-out would have been the worst possible situation for a new skydiver like myself. Always remember your pull priorities! Don’t let bad jumps scare you away from the sport. I am now 1 jump away from my B license and absolutely love the sport. Do not give up ! #Fridayfreakout #skydiving #lowpull #lowopening #skydivescare #skydive #skydivingfail #skydiverfail #skydivingaccident
