This is the second Anthill Art video showing the casting of a fire ant colony with molten aluminum. The colony in this video is much larger than the one from the first video (Cast #043), taking in 24.6 lbs. of aluminum which is 6.7 lbs. heavier than Cast #043. The final cast turned out 17" deep and 19" at its widest.
See the description on the first video for information on the red imported fire ant and you'll see why I prefer not to have these ant hills in my yard.
See more detailed pictures of the resulting display at http://www.anthillart.com/castings/057/

@
@syn01011010 years agoThis is a much more creative and probably far less environmentally harmful method of getting rid of fire ant colonies. Dousing the colony in gasoline and setting it on fire isn't so good for the soil. 634

@maverick8u24 years agoI need to express how thankful I am for the shortness of your videos. Any other YouTuber would have made this same video 16 minutes long and it would have been boring as fuck. I appreciate how beautiful your art is, and I appreciate the shortness of your videos. They're exactly as long as they need to be, and they contain exactly the information I want to see. ...33

@alexbirkett236110 years agoevery single comment I see is someone defending ants like they're their own family, they're ants...they bite you, they can kill, and not to mention, they get all up in yo personal space, just grow a pair and watch the video, it's about art, not "insect abuse", so just go watch a video about puppies or something and get over yourself, god ...14
