The Asus GX701GX is an expensive gaming laptop that I don't care to ever see again. I could not find a 100% matching DC jack for it, so I bought one that was as close as possible...spoilers: it wasn't close enough, so I had to improvise. The replacement jack had the same pins on the back and sides, but the back ones did not go far back enough and the side ones (which absorb the force of insertion) were too high. Fortunately, some testing revealed that the jack would sit at the same level relative to the hole in the case if I just sat it on top of the board instead of putting the pins through the board's holes, and I could basically flood solder from the back holes onto the pins that didn't quite reach to complete the electrical connection. Bonus: with that much solder on the sides and back, the jack is just as physically secure as if it were mounted through the holes. I never want to do this again. Besides the jack not matching, the disassembly and reassembly were HORRIBLE. Especially the reassembly was a disaster, and I did break one of the STUPIDLY DESIGNED under-case LED boards in the process (fortunately, they are only for "coolness" and the customer couldn't care less about them). I didn't film the reassembly because the disassembly and jack repair alone was so terrible that I didn't want to worry about managing filming anymore, I just wanted the damn computer off my workbench. Still, it had some sweet specs. I see why the fellow bought it.
