During the opening Ceremony of the 84th World Assembly of OIE Delegates celebrated on 22nd May, Anna SHIWEDA, Vice-Minister of Agriculture, Water and Forest, NAMIBIA addressed the Assembly. The six-day General Session of the World Assembly of Delegates is held every year in Paris in May. It brings together the representatives of the OIE’s 180 Member Countries, observers from international organisations having an official agreement with the OIE, as well as observers from other international and regional organisations and invited guests. The Opening Session marking the start of the work of the World Assembly of Delegates of the OIE is a prestigious event with the presence of eminent personalities from all over the world. This annual event is the occasion to review the current global landscape with regard to animal diseases, including zoonoses and to adopt new OIE intergovernmental standards on animal health and welfare applicable to OIE Member Countries.
