@robinlist2656last year Basically he controlled through fear. She just needed time to realize exactly how badass she truly is. 40
  • @
@JAYLOVE473 years ago The scene was so powerful! It showed that he had been controlling her with fear. But she had became so immune to the hurt and pain he had put her through after years of abuse that she almost became stoic and numb. I think at that point she really didn't care if she lived or died and he realized that the fear he used to control her he no longer possessed making him absolutely powerless. She mentally set herself free because while she wasn't broken, the agony he inflicted on her mentally was so great that the threat of him shooting or pistol-whipping her didn't faze her at all because she had already been as hurt as one can be. ... 87
  • @
@Deon826 years ago This scene makes sense if you look at it as Tina's imagination, that lingering self doubt that people who have been abused often still carry. Ike even says it, "I'm in here!" In her head. And her overcoming it, finally. ... 542
  • @
@Kingbossdon4 years ago She hurt his soul till the point he knew she was gone them words stung him to the core 38
  • @
@liak.67783 years ago Narcissists always need to be the ones in the spotlight, they need someone to constantly put down so they can feel good about themselves.
They beat you, gaslight you, and lie to you to get their way.
The one hot second you take that power away from them, they flop around like a fish out of water because they honestly don't know what to do besides flail and cry at the loss of control.
Fishburne and Bassett both deserved oscars for their performances in this film.

  • @
@xyPERSONlast year Just rewatching this scene is a sad reminder of how Ike Turner allowed drugs and jealousy to control and eventually destroy his life. Kudos to Tina for finding the strength to get out of the abusive, toxic marriage and relationship she had with him for so long. ... 31
  • @
@boredstudent8 years ago she's not afraid of Ikey anymore. so who's big and bold as shit now? 357

@nr30199last year "I got a room full of people come to see, you hear me Ike come to see ME!!!" Angela was robbed of the Academy award maybe they'll make it right. 12
  • @
@NeoGeelast year And at that moment, Ike became a footnote in the story of the legendary Tina Turner! 5
  • @
@XxItalianVampPrinceslast year Tina showed Ike he had no power over her any more. She took her power back and continued her journey to become the legend that she is. 14

  • @
@darnieceking4 years ago This is girl power she had enough of him she took control of her own life and career go tina 😀😋💞💕 28
  • @
@rampageclover97887 years ago I think it's just meant to be a figment of her imagination that Ike is still in her head telling her that she's worthless and is nothing without him. He didn't actually approach her in her dressing room...there's no way he would have got within 20 feet of her after the divorce. But the abuse he put her through physically, emotionally, psychologically, verbally...she was still battling all that internally long after Ike was out of her life and her confidence suffered maybe for a little while after. But this scene shows that Tina eventually took back full control of her career and her life. That Ike's words of hurt can no longer stall her confidence. ... 453

  • @
@anthonylagano237111 months ago Tina proved the one saying living well is the best revenge. And through her hard work determination and talent she did live well after getting away from Ike . I’m sure he was bitter and jealous of her success and it served him right to end up a loser after all the abuse he gave her . Tina was an awesome lady 😎😎😎 ... 3

@dejacreacts4964last year The entire time she never looked up at him, just his reflection. She sees him for the monster that he is. When she walks off, she takes one final look at the past. Ike’s expression at is when he realizes Tina called his bluff. ... 8
  • @
@kendramccord7836last year He realizes he's lost!!!!! She never needed you, buddy, you was the one that needed her. She just didn't care what happened anymore. However, she never lost her dignity, and she made sure that was the one thing he wasn't gonna get. 👏👏👏👏❤️ ... 3
  • @
@Ivy-kb9xe3 years ago If you’re in an abusive situation, find your strength and run. Do it now. I speak from experience. And when you do, don’t look back. You were born free. You deserve to stay that way 2
  • @
@JLPerryTV3 years ago They said this never happened but it was symbolic of Tina breaking the final hold that she felt Ike had on her 44
