Lentils are typically sold dried and look like tiny lenses or pebbles and have a mild, earthy flavor. Lentils are also often used in vegetarian recipes in place of meat #ClaudetteKitchen
Ingredients:
- 1 Kg of red lentils (small lentil)
- 2.5 Liters of water
- 2 teaspoons of salt
- Cook the lentils in a pressure cooker for 15 minutes
- 50 gr. of minced garlics
- 5 Lemons Juice
- Half cup of Olive Oil

Are lentils good for losing weight?
As a group, beans, chickpeas, lentils, and peas are known as pulses. They may influence weight loss due to their effect on fullness, as well as their protein and fiber content. Similarly to oatmeal, pulses contain soluble fiber that may slow down digestion and absorption.
Are lentils Keto?
Despite being rich in fiber, lentils contain a high number of total and net carbs, making them difficult to fit into a keto diet. While those following a strict keto diet should avoid lentils altogether, others may occasionally include small portions of these nutrient-rich legumes.
How long does it take to cook dried lentils?
Cook on a stovetop, using 3 cups of liquid (water, stock, etc) to 1 cup of dry lentils. Be sure to use a large enough saucepan as the lentils will double or triple in size. Bring to a boil, cover tightly, reduce heat and simmer until they are tender. For whole lentils, cook time is typically 15-20 minutes.
What happens if you don't soak lentils?
Although most recipes will tell you not to soak lentils and split peas, I always recommend doing so. It will greatly aid digestion and drastically reduce the cooking time.
Should I drain lentils after cooking?
After cooking, drain any excess cooking liquid and use as desired. To store cooked lentils, place in a covered storage container and keep refrigerated for up to 3 days.
How do you know when lentils are done?
Lentils are cooked as soon as they are tender and no longer crunchy. Older lentils may take longer to cook and shed their outer skins as they cook. Strain the lentils and remove the bay leaf, if used.
